Parent Involvement
Our Montessori Centre is a pre-school which is run totally by the combined efforts of all our families. The Committee positions are filled by parents with children currently enrolled in the School and hence require mutual respect and co-operation from all families involved in the Peninsula Montessori Centre.
The parental involvement is probably greater than other pre-schools but the Montessori education that we are providing for our children is special in many ways. The parents all meet once a term to discuss all of the business and activities of the pre-school.
Most of the duties are worked on a roster system so that we can try to cater to people’s varying work/family/social commitments.
Below is a list of the basic running requirements of the pre-school, and your involvement in these events is essential to its existence.
- Parent Committee Meetings
- Classroom duties
- Washing duties
- Parent Information Nights
- Working Bees
When all grouped together like this, it can sound overwhelming, but events which may be viewed as work very quickly become fun.
Being so closely involved with your child’s education has so many advantages. Your child and your family will feel very much at home in the pre-school. This Montessori pre-school is made up of parents who are all wanting similar values and experiences for their children. The parental involvement is high but, by becoming a part of this Montessori pre-school, you will find it to be a worthwhile and enjoyable part of your life.
Everything that we do is aimed at making the children’s environment a wonderful place to be. They are the ones who really benefit!
